College Basketball Betting - Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma State Cowboys - NCAA Basketball Betting
The Oklahoma State Cowboys went through a lot last year, losing their long-time head coach two-thirds of the way through the season; playing poorly for considerable stretches; losing eight games by three points or less; missing out on the NCAA tournament for the first time in nearly a decade and eventually falling in the first round of the NIT to Miami-Florida.
Coming into this season, the Cowboys were picked to finish no worse than about fifth in the Big 12, a league that was going to have six new coaches take over programs, including in Stillwater. That's because Eddie Sutton, before stepping down, had stocked the cupboard with a good portion of talent for his son Sean to cook something up with.
This season, its first full one under the new Coach Sutton, OSU returned its top eight players and seven players who started at least 11 games last season. Oklahoma State, as a lot of teams do, had trouble on the road, and even lost at last-place Colorado. Nonetheless, the Cowboys could give many teams a handful on any given night.
Senior forward Mario Boggan has had a fine farewell campaign, leading the team in scoring and rebounding, shooting better than 55% from the floor and almost singlehandedly beating Texas in what was probably college basketball's Game of the Year – OSU's thrilling 105-103 triple-overtime victory in January.
Junior guard JamesOn Curry, who had a tough sophomore season, improved his shot and broke out to average better than 18 points per game. Marcus Dove, a 6-9 junior forward, and Kenny Cooper, a 6-10 sophomore center, mainly provide defensive anchorage.
Bryon Eaton is a stocky sophomore point guard who's assist-to-turnover ratio should be better than it is. And Terrel Harris, another sophomore guard, provides offense off the bench.
OSU is young and athletic, likes to run the court, shoots well as a team and scores better than 80 points per game. But they rank, for the second season in a row, right near the bottom of the conference in turning the ball over.
If they can take care of the rock, they could win a game or two at the Big Dance.
Mario Boggan – A real nice player who had a fine senior season.
JamesOn Curry – Disappointed as sophomore, blossomed as junior.
Byron Eaton – Point guard, needs to take care of the rock.
