The Chicago Bulls have been billed as a young team for the past two or three season, and while that may be true, it’s time for the ‘Baby Bulls’ to grow up this season.

The Bulls fell just short of reaching the 50-win plateau last season, but can take satisfaction in bouncing the defending champion Miami Heat from the playoffs in the first round last season before falling to the veteran Detroit Pistons in the second round, 4-2.

The Bulls possess one of the best young backcourts in the game with Kirk Hinrich running the show and diminutive shooting guard Ben Gordon shooting the lights out. In addition to being a heady floor general, Hinrich was also a member of the All-Defensive second team last season. Gordon, a born scorer who stands only six-feet tall, averaged a career-high 21.4 points per game last season and shot a blistering 41 percent from three-point land.

Chris Duhon may not be flashy, but the former Duke University star is as steady as any backup in the league. The Bulls also have an athletic player I think has the potential to become a 20-point scorer in Thabo Sefolosha, who will see minutes at the ‘two’ behind Gordon.

Chicago also has one of the deepest frontcourts in the league with promising young power forward Tyrus Thomas and blossoming small forward Luol Deng joining four-time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace who is back in the middle and will provide experience, rebounding and stellar defense in the middle of the paint.

Chicago also has two other forwards that could start for the majority of teams in the NBA in energetic power forward Joakim Noah and rugged veteran, Andres Nocioni. The Bulls also added former No. 1 overall draft pick, veteran forward Joe Smith, who will also help Chicago when he’s on the floor.
