Golden State Warriors (- 9) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (+ 9)

The Golden State Warriors are a playoff caliber team. The Los Angeles Clippers definitely are not. The Warriors have been an even 5 and 5 against the BetUS spread in their last 10 games. The Clippers are an atrocious 2 and 8 against the BetUS spread in their last 10 games. The Clippers are also 2 and 8 straight-up in their last 10 games. Some of the teams the Clippers have lost to in their last 10 games are Minnesota, Miami, and Atlanta.

Here are some trends.

The Golden State Warriors are 4 and 1 against the spread following a straight-up loss of more than 10 points.

The Los Angeles Clippers are 2 and 5 against the spread in their last 7 games vs. a team from the Western Conference.

The Los Angeles Clippers are 5 and 11 against the spread in their last 16 games as a home underdog of between 5 and 10.5 points.

The Favorite is 5 and 0 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

I’m not too hot on the 218.5 BetUS over/under. The reason is that I have no idea how many points the Clippers will score in this game. They may score 110. In which case I do believe the Warriors will score 120 or 130. Or, the Clippers may score 80. Therefore, the Warriors will score between 90 and 100.

It doesn’t matter to me how many points the Clippers score in this game because I don’t think it will be enough for them to beat this spread. The Warriors cause serious match-up issues for the Clippers. Neither Chris Kaman nor Tim Thomas can play with the Warriors small line-up. The Clippers might try to slow the game down, but they will find that hard to do against a Warriors team that forces fast play.

That means that the Warriors should win this game in a blow-out. They will hit most of their quick shots. The Clippers won’t.
