NBA Betting Trends – Atrocious Heat Host High-Scoring Wizards

by Eric Williams

While the Washington Wizards, (34-33 SU, 38-29 ATS, 35-32 O/U), are trying to secure an even better spot in the eastern conference playoffs, the Miami Heat, (12-55 SU, 25-41-1 ATS, 33-32-2 O/U), are just trying to make it through the end of the regular season without getting embarrassed much more than they have been all season long.

The Wizards have won six of their last ten games and four of their last five in the BetUS.com Sportsbook including an 87-86 road victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday as all-star forward Antawn Jamison scored 21 of his 31 points in the second half while pulling down 11 rebounds.

"I thought he really played smarter in the second half," Wizards head coach Eddie Jordan said. "He played harder and got himself closer to the rim as opposed to taking 3's and tough shots."

While the Wizards have accomplished some of their goals this season despite playing for major stretches of the season without two of its all-star players in Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler, the Miami heat have fallen hard and fast into the ranks of the league’s all-time worst teams.

The Heat have the worst record in the league and have dropped nine of their last ten including a pathetic 96-54 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
"The worse it got, the more heart we lost," Heat head coach Pat Riley said. "Every time a shot rimmed out, we got more and more frustrated. ... We'll have our day. I don't know when, but we will have our day again."

The Wizards are 5-5 against the spread in their last ten games but just 1-3 over their last four.
Miami has managed to post a respectable 5-5 record against the spread in its last ten despite their on-court mediocrity.
Here is a look at tonight’s Key Trends, followed by my analysis and NBA Betting Picks.

The Wizards are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games.
The Wizards are 8-2 ATS in their last ten Friday games.
The Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a S.U. loss.
The Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on one days rest.
The Over is 5-0 in Wizards last five games following a S.U. win.
The Over is 5-1 in Heat last six games after scoring less than 75 points in their previous game.
The Wizards are 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings in Miami.
The Wizards are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.

Analysis: The Wizards will win this game going away and at this point, I don’t know if the Heat can cover any point spreads no matter how high. Take the Wizards to get back to their offensive-minded ways with a huge victory in this contest.
