NBA Basketball Sports Betting – Paul’s Hornets Look to Sting James and Cav’s

by Eric Williams

The Cleveland Cavaliers, (40-31 SU, 34-37 ATS, 34-35-2 O/U), may have the league’s best all-around player in gifted superstar LeBron ‘King’ James, but the New Orleans Hornets, (47-21 SU, 42-25-1 ATS, 32-34-2 O/U), come into tonight’s crucial contest against the Cavaliers with point guard Chris Paul, who many think may be the best point guard in all of basketball at the moment.

The Cavaliers, currently in fourth place in the eastern conference, five games behind the Orlando Magic for third place, come into tonight’s matchup off a surprising 108-98 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, allowing 62 second half points to the mediocre Bucks in snapping their two-game winning streak.

While the Cavaliers are still searching for their identity after making a franchise-altering trade prior to the NBA trade deadline, the Hornets come into this affair riding a four-game winning streak in the BetUS.com Sportsbook after beating the lowly Indiana Pacers 114-106 as the Hornets’ two-all star players, Paul and forward David West, went bonkers.

The Hornets grabbed the top spot in the tight western conference as West scored 35 points and pulled down 16 rebounds and Paul scored 31 points and dished out 14 assists.

The Hornets have won eight of their last ten games while going an identical 8-2 against the spread over the same span.

Cleveland is an unimpressive 5-5 in their last ten games and identical 5-5 against the spread in those contests.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my analysis and NBA Betting Picks.

The Hornets are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5.

The Hornets are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.

The Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.

The Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a home favorite.

The Over is 4-0 in Hornets last four road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.

The Under is 4-0 in Cavaliers last four games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.

The Over is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings in Cleveland.

The Over is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings.

Analysis: While this game is going to be a knock-down, drag-out fight to the finish, I like Paul and the Hornets to come out with a huge victory on the road despite another spectacular game by King James. The Hornets are firing on all cylinders at the moment, while James still looks shorthanded in the teammate department.
