MLB National League Betting Matchup – Phillies at Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Brewers, (12-8, 8-11-1 O/U) and Philadelphia Phillies, (11-10, 10-11 O/U) each come into tonight’s contest off a thrilling, late-inning win over their respective opponents on Tuesday as the Brewers downed the St. Louis Cardinals 9-8 in 12 innings and the Phillies beat the Colorado Rockies 8-6 as outfielder Pat Burrell picked up the game-winning hit against the Rockies in the ninth inning.
The Brewers snapped a two-game losing streak in the BetUS Sportsbook with the victory and will send veteran starter Dave Bush, (0-3, 7.02 ERA) to the mound looking for an extended outing after using seven relievers on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, Bush has not lasted more than six innings in any of his three starts this season. Bush gave up three runs in six innings of a 6-1 loss at St. Louis on April 15.
"I go out there pitch by pitch and like I said, I felt overall pretty good with the way I threw, just not the result,” Bush said.
The Phillies will counter with All-Star pitcher Cole Hamels (2-2, 1.86) who is coming off his worst start of the young season, as he allowed five runs on eight hits in seven innings of a 6-4 loss to the New York Mets on Friday, getting out-pitched by New York’s Johan Santana.
"There definitely isn't much margin of error," Hamels told the Phillies' official Web site. "(Santana's) always going to be able to have success. When you go into a game, you know it's going to be low-scoring and you hope you're on the right side of it. He has such phenomenal stuff that he can get away with mistakes."
Hamels also has a 5.40 ERA in two lifetime starts at Miller Park, giving up eight runs in 13 1/3 innings while Bush has a 6.23 ERA in four lifetime starts against Philadelphia, allowing a whopping four home runs in 10 1/3 innings.
