MLB Baseball Betting Odds – St. Louis Cardinals at Colorado Rockies
by Eric Williams
Major League Baseball online betting is surely the most humbling of all professional sports with its ability to make even the best players look bad on any given day.
The Colorado Rockies, (12-19, 16-15 O/U) and St. Louis Cardinals, (20-12, 14-17-1 O/U) are two of the best examples of the unpredictability that baseball often provides.
While the Rockies entered 2008 expecting to be one of the best teams in the National League this season after winning the NL Pennant last season, the Cardinals were expected to be nothing more than a mediocre ballclub in need of retooling after unexpectedly winning the World Series just two seasons ago but falling to 78-84 last season.
Despite spanking the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 on Sunday, the Rockies have won just three of their last 14 games in the BetUS Sportsbook and is tied for the fewest wins in the majors, while the Cardinals’ 5-3 win over the Chicago Cubs was the team’s seventh win in its last ten outings and another in a long line of surprising, but emphatic wins for Tony LaRussa’s team this season.
"We need to bring more energy to the park and put a streak together, and not put ourselves too far in the hole," Rockies first baseman Todd Helton told the club’s official Web site.
"There's a lot of tough teams in this division and I just want us to be one of them," Cardinals venerable manager Tony LaRussa said. "We're playing tough and it makes for exciting baseball."
Rockies right-handed starter Ubaldo Jimenez (1-2, 5.90 ERA) will take the mound on Monday looking to pick up his first win in four outings, all of which he failed to last at least six innings.
Jimenez was solid in his last outing as he limited the San Francisco Giants to two runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday, but did not receive a decision in Colorado’s 3-2 loss.
The Cardinals will counter with veteran right-hander Joel Pineiro (2-2, 3.75), who is coming off a couple of impressive outings, including limiting the Cincinnati Reds to no runs on just one hit in seven innings as the Cardinals won -2 on Tuesday.
The teams split their four meetings at Coors Field last season.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my MLB Betting Picks.

The Cardinals are 4-1 in the last five meetings.
The Under is 15-7-1 in the last 23 meetings.
Analysis: This pick is an absolute ‘no-brainer’ MLB bettors as the Cardinals will roll to victory over the struggling Rockies behind the suddenly impressive Joel Pineiro.
