MLB Betting - Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels

MLB bettors looking for some late night wagering action will get their fill this evening when the (19-20) Chicago White Sox continue their west coast road trip to battle the (24-18) LA Angels. The Palehose put an end to their three-game losing streak last night with a hard fought 6-1 victory over John Lackey and the Angels. Jose Contreras threw seven innings of one-run ball and allowed just seven hits with a K/BB ratio of 3/3. The victory allowed Contreras to secure victories in back-to-back games for the first time since September of last season. The game was tied at one apiece in the eighth inning, but Carlos Quentin changed that in a big way when he smashed his first career grand slam off Scott Shields to allow the White Sox to pull out the road victory. Manager Ozzie Guillen inserted his hot bat into the three-spot, and Quentin made him look like a genius. "I wanted to try and take advantage of the guys who are swinging the bat well right now. That's the main thing," Guillen said. "I think the guys who aren't swinging the bats are pressing. Hopefully, shuffling the lineup will help and we'll get back to normal pretty soon and this lineup won't be this way for long. I want to get my regular lineup back to normal." With the win, Chicago now stands 10-13 on the road making the betting public upset for not churning out a return on their investments. The Angels aren’t dominating at home like they have in the past, but they’re still over .500 at 12-9 on the year making their betting backers a couple of units. They currently hold a half-game lead over the Oakland A’s for the top spot in the AL West Division.

Looking to earn his club a split in this four-game set will be the White Sox Javier Vazquez. This will be his eighth start of the season. He’s 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.21 WHIP and has only allowed 18 hits and six earned runs in his last 21 1/3rd innings of work. Chicago is 2-2 in his road starts this season splitting his last two starts on the road against Toronto and Seattle. In his career against the Angels, Vazquez is 0-1 with a 2.95 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in three total starts. He last faced them as a member of the NY Yankees back in 2004.

John Garland will make his first start against his former mates after being traded to LA in the off-season. To date, he’s 4-3 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.41 WHIP allowing 58 hits and 28 runs (25 earned) in a shade over 52 innings of work. However, He hasn’t fared well in Angels Stadium going 2-2. His ERA balloons to 6.04 and he’s been tagged for 28 hits and 17 runs in just 25+ innings of work.

Oddsmakers opened the Angels short –110 home favorites, but the betting public moved the White Sox to –120 road favorites in this evening’s baseball betting affair with the ‘total’ set at 8.5 over -115. This has been a very low scoring series of late with the under cashing in 7 of the L/9 times they’ve squared off in LA, and in 12 of the L/16 overall meetings. Its also 5-2-1 ATS the L/8 times the Angels were installed home underdogs, and 11-3 in the White Sox L/14 road games.
