MLB bettors can get their betting action down in tonight’s second game match-up between the (14-25) San Diego Padres and the (23-15) Chicago Cubs. The 35-year old junk pitcher hasn’t started a game since April of 2006. He made a relief appearance for the Pads the day his contract was purchased from SD’s Triple-A affiliate. Estes went on to give up two unearned runs in 1 2/3rd innings of work striking out two and walking one in their 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He’s 5-3 with a 5.83 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 11 career starts against the Chicago Cubs.

Opposing him will be right-hander Jason Marquis (1-2) and his poor 5.08 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. He’s allowed 43 hits and 20 runs (19 earned) with a K/BB ratio of 21/15 in a shade under 34 total innings of work. After only allowing both the Rockies and Pirates a total of three earned runs, he’s gone on to get smashed by both St. Louis and Milwaukee in his last two starts surrendering 17 hits and 10 earned runs combined. His consistency just hasn’t been there this season, but he might be able to dominate against this Padres club that’s hit righties at a .240 clip this season.
