MLB Baseball - Cleveland Indians vs. Colorado Rockies
by D.S Williamson
The Cleveland Indians have been hitting the ball well which makes this the perfect time for them to visit Coors Field in the first of a three-game sports betting interleague series. The Indians send Paul Byrd to the mound. Byrd has been steady so far this season, not spectacular, but steady. His ERA isn’t anything to cheer about at 4.89 and his record is 3 and 6. Okay, maybe I wrote too soon. The guy has been horrible this season. He’s definitely one of the weak links in that Cleveland Indians’ starting rotation. For MLB betting fans, Byrd is a pretty solid play against when he takes the mound.
Of course the Rockies don’t counter with someone much better than Byrd. Greg Reynolds has actually been worse then Paul Byrd this season. His ERA is a woeful 6.69 and his record is 1 and 4. Baseball betting fans find themselves in a somewhat difficult position in regards to this game. Do we make an online wager on the terrible youngster in Reynolds or an online wager on the horrible old man in Paul Byrd?
Here are the BetUS online betting odds for this game:
Cleveland Indians
Paul Byrd – R + 1 ½ - 195 Ev O 10 ½ - 110
Colorado Rockies
Greg Reynolds – R - 1 ½ + 165 - 120 U 10 ½ - 110
Here are a few baseball wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:
The Cleveland Indians are 15 and 2 in their last 17 games versus a team from the National League West Division.
The Cleveland Indians are 2 and 9 in their last 11 games as the underdog.
The Colorado Rockies are 4 and 1 in their last 5 interleague games.
The Colorado Rockies are 3 and 8 in their last 11 games following a loss.
The trends are sort of all over the place in this one. Neither the Indians nor the Rockies appear headed for a victory. That means that, as an online sportsbook bettor, I need to look at the BetUS over/under to find a potential play.
I think I have found one. Yes, 10 ½ runs seems like an awful lot, but one of the things that we need to understand is that both the Indians and Rockies figure to give up a ton of runs in this game. This is Coors Field where the runs come at a solid pace.
That means that two pitchers, like Byrd and Reynolds, who usually give up the long ball anyhow, are more likely to give up a few more long balls in this game.
I could see the total in this game approaching 15 to 18 runs. That’s how bad it could get.
In any case, that’s where my money will be - - on the BetUS over at 10 ½ runs.
I will be making an online wager on the BetUS over at 10 ½ runs in the Cleveland Indians vs. Colorado Rockies game tonight.
