Horse Racing Betting – Chicago Equine Poker
by Brian Mulligan
In online horse race gambling you have to know when to hold them or when to fold them and one of the ways that horse betting fanatics can get an insight into sportsbook betting action at Arlington Park is to follow who is spreading the horse racing wagering money around at the claim box.
There are some secrets on the backstretches of the tracks in this country, but keeping a good horse quiet is another thing. If a runner is doing good, or if he just has a reputation for being sound and in good condition, the word spreads like wild fire and that runner could change hands if he is of the claiming ilk.
If there are multiple claims for a runner, cagey horse bettors pick up on it quickly and should follow those runners in the near and distant future. Obviously, they are well thought of and generally in good form.
One runner in Chicago that horse bettors should pay attention to is Party Crasher. The runner didn’t know it was a BOB, bring your own booze, to the winner’s circle but that is just what he did on June 18 after there were 4 claims in for his scalp in his prior start on May 26.
He went from the Larry Rivelli stable to the shedrow of Tom Tomillo and TT got a quick turn on the investment.
Taking the jump from $10,000 to $14,000 claimer, Crasher stalked in 4th, came away late to win by a length and pay a nice 7-2.
The veteran invents ways to win, he’s now 7 for 19 career and he fires every single time. His record on the synthetic surface is solid with a 4 for 11 win slate with 6 other runs in the money.
And there is also some class on the bottom side as his winning dam is kin to the over $200K earner Krabbie.
Bettors should circle this guy and be on the look out even if he jumps in class again.
Another Chicago guy to watch is Dangerous Summer. He is now in the very clever hands of Wayne Catalano who won him in a three-man ‘shake’ and he’s a long-fused son of Victory Gallop. Overmatched early in the year, this gelding showed signs of life in his May start then broke slowly to kick of June.
A ‘shake’ is when there are multiple claims in for a runner. At that point, they basically roll the dice and the winner gets the horse.
He will need a race with plenty of pace, but if he gets that situation, astute horseplayers should use him in the gimmicks at least.
Three claims were also in for Adacat this month at Arlington and the filly has every right to step up the ladder and improve. Back in the day she shocked at 25-1 in allowance company and she has a knack for finding the circle. In the money in 10 of 18 with 5 wins, the miss has some stamina issues but she brings tactical speed to the party and can be placed anywhere and still win.
Astute horse bettors should double up on this one if she finds a 5-furlong fray on the Polytrack.
