Hockey Spread Query

Dear Bookie,

In betting NHL, how does line go for the dog? For example:

CHICAGO +760

DETROIT -310

I like Chicago, so how does my spread go for this line?

Thanks, Joe

Joe,

The spread in the NHL is known also as the puck line and is always +1.5 or -1.5, with the money associated with each betting option adjusted accordingly. In scenarios where you have two evenly matched teams, the puck line is sometimes the way to go.
