However, since his promising start, Soderling struggled in tournament play, most recently slipping to a 15-8 mark for the season with a first round exit in Rome.

In terms of handicapping this match, Soderling has the advantage in rest, having all week last week off, so he should be well prepared for his tough opening encounter against Andreev. Andreev, on the other hand, enjoys better results on clay, as such, with his game warmed-up, he should be more match-ready.

He is 1-4 on clay, having reached the second round of Monte Carlo – his best clay result thus far. Tipped at -325, Nieminen is not a sure play to win his second match on clay this season. If anything, home court advantage with the German, Schuettler, he may very well be the better play.
