College Football Futures - Will LSU Tigers Rise Without Ryan Perilloux?

by D.S Williamson

LSU coach Les Miles pretty much did all he could to help Ryan Perilloux fulfill his potential as one of the most-hyped quarterbacks to come out of high school in a number of years. Miles looked the other way as Perilloux got into trouble on almost a daily basis - - using a fake I.D. to get into a casino, allegations of being involved in counterfeiting and, finally, failing a drug test.

The drug test is what did it. Miles finally had enough of his star quarterback and had no choice but to release Ryan Perilloux from his commitment to the LSU Tigers. Now, Perilloux faces the prospect of living out his remaining two years of eligibility at a Division 1-AA school like Jackson State or Alabama A&M. Time is running out for Perilloux. His ability to prove himself a capable quarterback at the Division 1-A college level has already dissipated. Whatever chances Perilloux had of making the NFL were probably squashed by the fact that Miles and LSU had to boot him from the team.

For Perilloux things don’t look so good, but what about the LSU Tigers? This is a team coming off an NCAA National Championship. They recently signed their head coach to a mega-deal. They are one of the best recruiting teams in all of college football and now they have to start a red-shirt freshman in Jarrett Lee or - - get this - - a Harvard transfer in Andrew Hatch. Either way, LSU doesn’t look as good during spring 2008 as they did during spring 2007.

Or do they? BetUS online sportsbook betting fans no doubt will be wondering what the answer is to that question well until the middle of August as the LSU football program can’t help but be affected by Miles’s decision to dismiss Ryan Perilloux.

Currently, the BetUS online sportsbook wager on the LSU Tigers to win the 2008 – 2009 NCAA National Championship are 10 to 1.

The question for most college sports betting enthusiasts looking to make a score in the BetUS online sportsbook futures page on the LSU Tigers will have to look beyond the obvious in order to correctly assess their chances at the title now that Perilloux is gone. Perilloux was an unstoppable weapon - - like Vince Young during his time at Texas - - and replacing Perilloux with anybody, even what some might consider a more then capable player in Jarrett Lee, can’t be a great thing.

But it might not be a disaster either. Online sportsbook wagering fans must understand that college football isn’t the same as the NFL. You can get away with having a decent quarterback like Matt Flynn who led these LSU Tigers to a National Championship last year. Not every quarterback who leads your team has to be named “Manning”. And, besides, neither Peyton nor Eli helped their Tennessee or Ole Miss teams to the title.

In making a play on the LSU Tigers to win the National Championship this year, BetUS sportsbook online betting enthusiasts need to find out exactly how the loss of Perilloux can be overcome.

First, the LSU Tigers return an incredible number of weapons on offense. Demetrius Byrd and Trindon Holliday are absolutely phenomenal. Keiland Williams is a stud at running back. Second, the Tigers return one of the most ferocious defenses in the nation. Yes, the loss of Glenn Dorsey will impact that defense but I still believe that they have enough to contend for the SEC Title.

Any team that can win the SEC has a chance of making it to the National Championship and LSU certainly can win the SEC. Because the Florida Gators, their number one rival in the SEC are currently at BetUS betting odds of 6 to 1, LSU is a prime online future wager to win the National Championship. 10 to 1 on the defending National Champions who always find a way to contend?

I like those online betting odds.
