AFL Football Betting Action – Tampa Bay vs. Georgia

by Mike Rose

AFL bettors get another Saturday night helping of Arena Football betting action to sink their teeth into when the (6-6) Tampa Bay Storm invade the Gwinnett Arena to take on the (7-5) Georgia Force. Tampa Bay picked up an impressive home win and cover against the Cleveland Gladiators last weekend making their AFL betting backers very happy in the process. The win finally saw them reach the .500 mark after losing five in a row earlier in the season. The Storm still remain #8 in the National Conference standings, but they can move up to as high as #4 with a win on Saturday and some help from a few other teams. If Tampa Bay wins and New York, Cleveland and New Orleans all lose, the Storm would be in the #4 position in the National Conference with three games remaining. The Storm enters tonight’s contest winners in four of their last five both SU and ATS, and they’re 3-3 SU and 3-2-1 ATS on the road.

As for the Force, they enter Week 14 the hottest team in the AFL. They’ve picked up solid victories against top notch competition over the last month to catapult themselves right back into the thick of the American Conference Playoff race. Last Monday nights road win at New Orleans was the team’s fourth straight victory, of which they were the decided underdog in every game. The 40-29 road win saw them cover easily as three-point road pups, and the combined 69 points fell comfortably under the closing ‘total’ of 116. Their winning streak now has them 7-5 SU and 6-6 ATS. At home, the Georgia is 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS with underdog wins against both New Orleans and Philadelphia the last two times they took the field sporting their home uniforms.

Oddsmakers tagged the Force 6-points better than the visiting Storm for this contest with the ‘total’ set at 108.5. BetUS.com offers all the Week 14 Arena Football lines, so be sure to log into your account before the opening kick at 7:00 ET.

This game is really tough from a betting standpoint, but there are a number of trends that should be looked into before you lay down your hard earned money. Tampa Bay has been a terrible sports wager on the road when the ‘total’ posted is in the 105-110 point range going 0-5 SU and ATS the L/3 seasons. They’re also a poor 8-14 ATS as a underdog the L/3 seasons (1-2 ATS this year). They’ve also failed to cash their backers tickets the L/4 times they’ve paid a visit to their division rivals arena. Georgia has performed well against divisional opponents going 14-6 SU & 13-7 ATS the L/3 seasons. They’re also 9-4 ATS their L/13 at home. The offenses have dominated this series recently as the over is 5-1 ATS the L/6 times they’ve squared off regardless of venue. That said, the Storm has seen the under cash in five straight this year, and the defenses for both teams should have more of an impact this time around.
