2008 Cincinnati Bengals Regular Season Win Total Odds
by Eric Williams
The Cincinnati Bengals, (7-9 SU, 7-9 ATS, 7-9 O/U) have been going backwards for the BetUS NFL online sports wagering fraternity for a couple of seasons now and are in danger of getting head coach Marvin Lewis fired if they don’t win in 2008, though the franchise has not come out and publicly said anything to that effect.
The Bengals posted identically mediocre statistics across the board, (4-4 ATS home, 3-5 ATS road) for NFL wagering fans last season and will need to do much better in 2008 if they expect to come close to earning a playoff berth in 2008.
Here is a look at the Bengals’ 2008 regular season schedule, followed by my brief comments on each contest and overall analysis on Cincinnati’s 2008 regular season in the BetUS Sportsbook:
09/07/08 @ Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore’s defense wins this game for them despite the fact that they will be mediocre on offense in 2008. Loss
09/14/08 Tennessee Titans
Even at home, the Titans are clearly the better of these two teams. Loss
09/21/08 @ New York Giants
Can you say 0-3 start? I can! Loss
09/28/08 Cleveland Browns
Repeat after me - the Bengals go 0-4 to start the season. Loss
10/05/08 @ Dallas Cowboys
Oops, make that an 0-5 start, thank you. Loss
10/12/08 @ New York Jets
Okay, it’s about time the Bengals finally get a victory! Win
10/19/08 Pittsburgh Steelers
I like the Steelers to sweep Cincy this season. Loss

The Jaguars have the look of a Super Bowl participant. Loss
11/09/08 @ Houston Texans
The Texans have the look of a playoff participant. Loss

11/20/08 @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Again – I like the Steelers for the season sweep. Loss

12/14/08 Washington Redskins
The Skins will be a team undergoing change in Jim Zorn’s first season. Win
12/21/08 @ Cleveland Browns
I smell another NFC North sweep in this contest. Loss
12/28/08 Kansas City Chiefs
Okay, the Bengals close out a dismal season with a blowout win over the beleaguered Chiefs. Win
Bengals Regular Season Wins
Over 7½ Regular Season Wins +105
Under 7½ Regular Season Wins -145
Analysis: I’ve got the Bengals winning five games in 2008, falling short of the 7½-win total that oddsmakers have set for them. To be totally honest about it, I certainly don’t see eight wins on the horizon for this dysfunctional team.
