Breeders' Cup Venue

Monmouth Park Racetrack

Breeders Cup

Originally opening in 1870, Monmouth Park Racetrack is steeped in history. Due to financial issues and New Jersey gambling laws the park was closed in 1894 but stormed through the gates in 1946, reopening due to hard work by Amory L. Haskel and a legislative change that allowed wagering on horse racing in Jersey once again.

Monmouth gained popularity and, starting in 1968, became home to the Haskell Invitational Handicap. It is also the current home of the Jersey Derby. The Breeders' Cup will do a lot to push this track into the international spotlight.

Complete with a seven-furlong-circumference turf course, Monmouth's main track is a one mile dirt oval. The dirt track boasts chutes ready for 1 1/4 mile and 6 furlong races. The Breeders' Cup will be pounding that dirt on Saturday, October 27th. Check out BetUS for all of your previews, betting odds, and recaps for the 2007 Breeders' Cup.
