Danks, White Sox visit Baltimore

It was business as usual for the Chicago White Sox in last nights’ MLB betting affair with the Baltimore Orioles as it cruised to the 8-3 road victory to further cement its position within the AL Central. Gavin Floyd tossed eight masterful innings allowing the O’s just four hits and two earned runs en route to securing his 14th win of the season.

The offense continued to rake as well accumulating 16 hits on the night, which included a Nick Swisher solo blast to increase the teams overall home run total to an MLB best 196 on the year. The victory saw Chicago claw to four-games under .500 (30-34) on the road costing its MLB betting supporters upwards of $150 on the season.

The Palehose have squared off against a number of losing teams over the last couple weeks and taken advantage of it like a division leader should. They enter tonight’s series finale with the O’s 11-3 their L/14 overall, and hold a comfier two-game lead over Minnesota for the top spot in the AL Central after the Twins choked another one away in the Pacific Northwest last night.

As for Baltimore, the defeat was the teams eighth in their L/10 overall, and they bring up the rear of the AL East sporting a 62-70 overall record. They’ve played their best ball within Camden Yards this season where they’ve compiled a 32-31 overall mark making MLB sportsbettors a shade under $100 on the year.

Chicago holds a five games to three lead against Baltimore in 2008’s season series with this being their final meeting of the year.

Getting the starting nod for the Palehose for the 27th time this season will be lefty John Danks whose lost two of his last three starts after not losing for the better part of two months. He was handed another tough luck loss his last time out that saw him throw 6 1/3rd innings of three-run ball in Chicago’s 9-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

It doesn’t show in his W/L record, but Danks has been filthy his L/3 starts allowing just 15 hits and six runs with a K:BB ratio of 18:9 through 19 1/3rd total innings of work. He’s been nothing short of sensational on the road going 6-1 with a stingy 2.54 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, and Chicago has won eight of his 12 overall starts. In a pair of career starts against the Orioles, Danks is 1-1 with a 4.98 ERA and 0.99 WHIP.

He’ll be opposed by right-hander Radhames Liz who hasn’t had a good go of it as a starter in 2008. The kids got an electric fastball, but he lacks severely in the confidence department that’s allowed opponents to tee off on him once the going got rough. He enters his 12th start of the season 4-3 with a staggering 7.32 ERA and 1.82 WHIP allowing 61 hits and 44 runs with a poor K:BB ratio of 37:33 in just 51+ total innings of work.

Suffice to say, he’s been a gas can and MLB offenses have been the spark to light him up. Baltimore’s gone 3-3 in his six Camden Yards starts, and the over is a perfect 6-0 whenever he’s toed the home rubber. This will be his first career MLB start against the Chicago White Sox franchise.
