The 2007-08 NHL online betting season was immeasurable, capped off by the first all-American NHL finals since 2003, and the first time ever the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins battled for Lord Stanley's Cup. Detroit won the best-of-seven NHL Finals as the favorites priced in the BetUS NHL odds at -170.

The team's that were the biggest disappointments in the 2007-08 season included Atlanta, who was a major mess, posting a record of 34-40-8 built from only 76 points. Vancouver, who failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons and lost seven of its last eight games to finished last in the Northwest with a record of 39-33-10.

St. Louis, who missed the playoffs for a franchise-record third season, and Tampa Bay who accumulated 22 less points in the 2007-08 season (71) than in the previous year (93) and allowed 267 goals which was second worst in the league only ahead of the Thrashers were two other 2008 flops.

The club that made the biggest turn around by far of the season for online NHL wagering fans in The City of Brotherly Love was the Philadelphia Flyers, who finished the 2006-07 season at the bottom of the Atlantic with a 22-48-12 record and an NHL-worst 56 points. The next worst team was 11 points ahead.

In the 2007-08 season the Flyers finished 42-29-11 with 95 points to reach the postseason and down Montreal in five games. But the Flyers were beaten in the Eastern Conference finals by its rivalry Pens.

June 20-21 are the dates for this year's NHL draft in Ottawa. Following in Russian's footsteps of Ilya Kovalchuk, Evgeni Malkin and Alex Ovechkin comes Nikita Filatov, the 18-year-old ranked as the No. 1 skater for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Despite being just 5'11'' and 171-pounds, he's a physical player who isn't afraid to take or deliver aggressive hits.

Steven Stamkos center of the Sarina Sting remains the top-rated junior player heading into the NHL Draft among North American prospects. Stamkos is coming off of a sensational sophomore season with the Sting and is likely heading to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was second among OHL goal scorers with 58 and finished fifth in the scoring race with 105 points in 61 games.
