BetUS Sportsbook is your spot for all your NFL betting odds!
One of the most exciting online NFL betting futures listed in the BetUS NFL odds is the O/U regular-season win total for each team. There's no lines to beat, it offers season-long online NFL wagering action and considered by the sports betting community to be one of the easier bets to cash in on.
With the 2008-09 NFL online betting season rapidly approaching, let's take a look at each team's O/U regular-season win total and make bankroll building selections over the next few weeks, beginning with the NFC East.
Dallas Cowboys - Over 10½ (-155) Regular Season Wins, Under 10½ (+115) Regular Season Wins
In 2007, the Cowboys posted a regular season 13-3 SU (straight up) record and manufactured an ATS (against the spread) mark of 9-7. Wade Phillips took the reigns as head coach last season and produced a strong season. Dallas won its division, but like everyone else, they were ousted from the postseason by the Giants.
Defensively, the Cowboys will be solid and potentially better than last year when they were ranked 13th, allowing 20.3 ppg and 307.6 ypg. Dallas had the NFL's second-best offense that put up 28.4 ppg and 365.7 ypg. Ironically, it will be on the offensive side of the ball that will decide the O/U of 10½ wins.
Will ''Pacman'' be able to stay out of prison stripes, and how big of a distraction will his luggage be to the team? Will T.O. be, well, T.O.? And, will Tony Romo have Terry Glenn as a target? Glenn and the Cowboys currently remain at an impasse, as the team want injury protection against Glenn’s surgically repaired right knee and have barred him from practicing with the team until he signs the waiver.
The Cowboys open the season at Cleveland, where they are early 3-point favorites. BetUS NFL odds (futures) have them listed at the favorites priced at -115 to win the NFC East.
2008 NFL Draft Selections: RB Felix Jones, DB Mike Jenkins, TE Martellus Bennett, RB Tashard Choice, DB Orlando Scandrick, DL Erik Walden
Free NFL Free Picks: Dallas Cowboys - Over 10½ (-155) Regular Season Wins
New York Giants - Over 9 (EV) Regular Season Wins, Under 9 (-140) Regular Season Wins
Last year's Super Bowl champions don't appear to be getting much love from oddsmakers. The Giants produced a regular season SU and ATS record of 10-6. En route to the championship they covered the number in all four playoff games.
The Giants defensively ranked 17th, allowing 21.9 ppg and 305.0 ypg and were ranked 14th on offense that posted 23.3 ppg and 331.4 ypg. Despite finishing roughly mid-pack on both sides of the ball, New York found a way to win and Eli Manning matured right in front of our eyes. Super Bowl repeat? Most likely not. Over 9 wins during the regular season? Indeed.
The Giants open the season at home against the Redskins. The defending champs are listed at +275 to win the division and +1500 to win Super Bowl XLIII.
2008 NFL Draft Selections: DB Kenny Phillips, DB Terrell Thomas, WR Mario Manningham, LB Bryan Kehl, LB Jonathan Goff, QB André Woodson, DE Robert Henderson
Free NFL Free Picks: New York Giants - Over 9 (EV) Regular Season Wins
Philadelphia Eagles - Over 8½ (-185) Regular Season Wins, Under 8½ (+135) Regular Season Wins
Last year, the Eagles went 8-8 SU during the regular season and 8-8 ATS. Considering the roller coaster up and down season the Eagles had, they're lucky to have had finished at .500. Head coach Andy Reid battled family issues, QB Donovan McNabb coming back from his third season-ending injury clearly struggled, and the cutting of Jeremiah Trotter in training camp to name just a few of the subplots added to Philadelphia's problems.
On the bright side, the Eagles closed the season by winning its final three games SU. RB Brian Westbrook established an Eagles record for combined yards with 2104 to earn his first Pro Bowl selection. WR Kevin Curtis had over 1,100 yards with eight TD’s, and DE Trent Cole earned his first Pro Bowl appearance with 12.5 sacks.
The Eagles open the season at home against the Rams, where they are early 7-point favorites. They're listed at +300 to win the NFC East.
2008 NFL Draft Selections: DL Trevor Laws, WR DeSean Jackson, DL Bryan Smith, OL Mike McGlynn, DB Quintin Demps, DB Jack Ikegwuonu, OL Mike Gibson, LB Joe Mays, DL Andrew Studebaker, OL King Dunlap
Free NFL Free Picks: Philadelphia Eagles - Under 8½ (+135) Regular Season Wins
Washington Redskins - Over 7½ (-135) Regular Season Wins, Under 7½ (-105) Regular Season Wins
Last year, Washington was a respectable 9-7 SU and 7-7-1 ATS. The Redskins and new head coach Jim Zorn received ten overall picks with solid potential from top to bottom in this year's draft, featuring a lot of potential starters. Expect this to be a building season for the Redskins as they focus on its future with the new guys.
The defense improved greatly from the prior season. In 2007, they surrendered 305.3 ypg and allowed an 11th-best 19.4 ppg. Washington scored 20.9 ppg and allowed 333.4 ypg. Clinton Portis galloped for an NFL 6th-best 1,262 yards.
The Redskins open the season on the road against the Giants. They are the dark-horses of the NFC East priced at +700 to win their division.
2008 NFL Draft Selections: WR Devin Thomas, TE Fred Davis, WR Malcolm Kelly, OL Chad Rinehart, DB Justin Tryon, P Durant Brooks, DB Kareem Moore, QB Colt Brennan, DL Rob Jackson, DB Chris Horton
