2009 arrived with immeasurable sports betting action. There's more sweetness Friday evening when unbeaten No. 6 Utah (12-0 SU, 7-3-1 ATS) and No. 4 Alabama (12-1 SU, 9-4 ATS) clash in the BCS Sugar Bowl at 8:00pm EST. College football betting fans investing in non-BCS conference team Utah hope they can follow in the footsteps of Boise State, who upset Oklahoma as a BCS-conference powerhouse team in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

A Utah victory over the Tide would be just as stunning but Alabama, after all, is Alabama and Nick Saban’s clubs don’t usually fail to show up on prime time. BetUS NCAA football odds indicate they agree, having the Tide listed 9½-point favorites. Alabama has covered its last five games as favorites.

Utah will try to cover as 2009 non-BCS darlings with a 24-9-1 ATS record in non-conference games and a 5-1 ATS bowl. The Tide tries to roll to the bank with a 4-1 ATS mark in non-conference play and having cashed in five of its last six overall. Following the Sugar Bowl, there's just two BCS games remaining—Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 5) and National Championship game (Jan. 8).

Until then, Buffalo and Connecticut represent the International Bowl Saturday at 12:00pm EST. Buffalo won an improbable MAC title and will appear in its first bowl ever. Connecticut is playing in its second straight bowl led by the nation’s top rusher Donald Brown, who had 1,822 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Free College Football Picks: Alabama -9½ and Buffalo +6½.
